From the Chilean coast waters to the most important seafood event in North America
Between March 12th - 14th, Chile will be present at the most important seafood event in North America, showcasing its products that stand out for high quality, sustainability, and innovation.

prawns, toothfish, swordfish, amongst the offer that our country will exhibit at the 41st edition of this renowned fair, aiming to demonstrate itself as a reliable and high-quality supplier for the North American market. |

In general terms, Chilean food, and mainly seafood, are well-known for five outstanding characteristics that have positioned our country as an agri-food power supplier: Sustainability, as it is required to be exporter to over 100 countries with important certifications from various industries such as Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), Global GAP, HACCP, BRC, IFS, ASC, BAP, FOS, Organic, HALAL, BSCI, ICS and SMETA. These practices are based on sustainable commitments and to also assure safe products delivered to every client globally.
Safety, Chile has natural phytosanitary barriers that isolate Chilean food which keeps it free of pests and diseases. Quality, a result of geography,

climate, experience, and the professionalism of Chilean producers, which have contributed for its products to obtain an international guarantee, a valuation and recognition of its exporting markets. Chile is recognized globally for its attributes and international trade history which are valued by consumers in the five continents.
Innovation, the salmon industry has invested 7.6 times more in research, development, and innovation (R+D+i) during the years. Demonstrating the efforts that the salmon farming sector is carrying out to incorporate new technologies within its productive and environmental processes. Traceability, complete monitoring of the production process, which is carried out under strict quality standards and allows for a certified offer. Natural flavor: purity and freshness of origin.

Between January and December 2022, Chile exported US$8,826 million in seafood (Fisheries and Aquaculture) globally, 24.7% more than between January and December 2021. The main destination for these shipments was the United States, with sales reaching US$3,167 million, growing by 23.9% compared to 2021.

The Chilean industry is characterized by a strict regulatory commitment which monitors systems from departure to destination, and constant research that allows diversifying resources and creating new products, within the framework of a production system that complies with the highest sanitary standards worldwide.

With 31 trade agreements signed with 65 markets, Chile has preferential access to 65% of the world's population, corresponding to 88% of the global GDP. Among these agreements is the Free Trade Agreement signed with the United States, which has been in force since January 1, 2004. |

Between January and December 2022, Chile exported 35.9% of all seafood abroad to the United States (millions of FOB dollars). This is mainly explained by the validity of the FTA and the development of a joint promotion strategy of the public and private sectors, which has intensified in recent years, through the work of sectorial brands, such as that carried

out by the Chile brand Mussel from Patagonia. In addition to this, the work carried out in the market together with the "Chilean Salmon Marketing Council (CSMC)" promoted by the SalmonChile union, which seeks to become a fundamental support for the promotion of the seafood industry in North America.
